Importing companies and contacts

Bring in a spreadsheet of companies and people, CSV or Excel, and map its columns.

Go to Companies → Import to load a spreadsheet of companies and the people at them.

Prepare the file

  • CSV or Excel (.xlsx), up to 10,000 rows and 50 MB.
  • One row per company, or one row per person. Pedibee groups people under their company by the company's domain (from a website or email column).
  • Useful columns: company name, website, industry, size, country, city, phone, LinkedIn, tags; and for people: email, name, title, phone, LinkedIn, and any custom field.
  • Up to 20 email addresses per row (a row can carry several people).

Keep the first row as headers

Pedibee reads the first row as column names and suggests a mapping from them. Headers like Email, Company, Website and First name are recognised automatically.

Map the columns

After uploading, match each column of your file to a Pedibee field, or skip it. Custom fields appear here too. Then review the summary: how many companies and people will be created, and how many rows have a problem (no email, an invalid address, a duplicate).

What happens on import

  • A company that already exists (same domain) is updated, not duplicated; people are added to it.
  • A person whose email already exists is updated.
  • New contacts start at stage New and, if email verification is on, are queued for a check.
  • Every company remembers which import it came from, so you can filter the Companies page by import and, for example, add that whole batch to a list or a campaign.

Enrichment

After an import, Pedibee quietly looks up each company's website in the background to fill in what it can (industry, size, location, description). It never changes a value you entered yourself.
