Email tracking
See who opens your emails and which links they click — tracked through your own domain.
Pedibee tracks opens and clicks only through your own tracking domain — a subdomain of your company's domain, like track.yourcompany.com. Your links carry your name, and their reputation is yours alone. Until you set one up, emails are sent untracked.
Owner only
Set up your tracking domain
-
Open Settings → Email tracking.
-
Type the subdomain you'd like (
trackis filled in), pick your domain, and click Add domain. -
Add the one DNS record shown, where your domain's DNS is managed:
Type Name Target CNAME trackdomains.pedibee.comPedibee detects your DNS provider and links straight to its DNS page, with steps in its words.
-
Click Check now. Once the record is seen, the certificate is issued automatically — usually within minutes — and the status turns Active.
If your DNS is on Cloudflare
Add the record as DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied:
- In Cloudflare, open your domain → DNS → Records → Add record.
- Type CNAME, Name track, Target domains.pedibee.com.
- Turn Proxy status off so it shows DNS only, then Save.
What's tracked
- Opens — a tiny image in each email. Each open is shown with its time and mail app.
- Clicks — every web link in the email goes through your tracking domain, including addresses written as plain text (
yoursite.com). Each email lists which links were clicked. - Unsubscribe links go through your tracking domain too.
You can turn opens or clicks off by default (Settings → Email tracking), or for one campaign, sequence or email.
What's not counted
Some software opens emails and clicks links without anyone looking. Pedibee records these but never counts them:
- Apple Mail loads every email's images by itself (Mail Privacy Protection).
- Security scanners (Microsoft, Mimecast, Proofpoint…) click every link the moment an email arrives.
- Anything in the first seconds after sending — the receiving server checking the email.
They appear on the email as chips like Opened too early · not counted.
Troubleshooting
- A click wasn't recorded — check the link in the received email starts with your tracking domain. Emails sent before your domain was active aren't tracked.
- An open you didn't expect — opening your own copy in Gmail's Sent folder can count, as can forwarding.
- Stuck on "Waiting for DNS" — DNS changes can take up to an hour. Make sure the record is a CNAME, not proxied, and points to
domains.pedibee.com.
