API keys and connected apps
Let your own servers, or an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, work in your workspace.
There are two ways for software to work in your workspace. Both are set up by a manager or the owner, both respect your role, and both can be cut off at any time.
| API keys | Connected apps (MCP) | |
|---|---|---|
| For | Your own code: a website, a backend, a CRM sync | AI assistants: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code |
| Can do | Companies, contacts, custom fields, lists, send one email at a time, send events | Everything above, plus templates, signatures, campaigns, sequences, warm-up and automations |
| How it authenticates | A secret key your code sends with each request | You click Connect in the assistant and approve it in Pedibee; no secret to copy |

| Reference | API reference | MCP server |
API keys
- Settings → API keys → Create API key.
- Name it, choose what it may read and write (companies, contacts, lists, events), and whether it may send email. A key that sends is locked to one Gmail, chosen here.
- Confirm with your password. Copy the key: it's shown once.
Keep the key on your server (an environment variable). Requests from a browser are refused. A key can expire after 30, 90 or 365 days, and you can rename it or change its access later; adding access needs your password again. Revoke stops it immediately.
A key stops working if the person who created it leaves the workspace or becomes a member. Up to 25 keys per workspace.
Connected apps
Add Pedibee's MCP server to your assistant (the address is on the Connected apps page), click Connect, and Pedibee opens in your browser. Pick the workspace and what the assistant may do, capped at your own role. For sending, choose any connected Gmail or one Gmail only; that choice covers everything the assistant makes go out, including campaigns, sequences and warm-up.
Everyone in the workspace can see what's connected; managers and the owner can disconnect. A connection ends when the person who approved it leaves, is removed or becomes a member.
See Connect an assistant for the steps in each app.
